Bodegas Paniza gets a silver medal with Viñas Viejas de Paniza at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2018
Bodegas Paniza has received a new international recognition. One of its most emblematic wines, Viñas Viejas de Paniza, obtained with its 2016 vintage a silver medal in the “Decanter” magazine awards. Viñas de Paniza Syrah 2015, which also belongs to the author’s range of wines from the winery, has received a recommendation with 84 points. The Decanter World Wine Awards is an international reference in the wine sector for the seriousness and professionalism of its opinions, since the jury is made up of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and other regional experts, who blindly taste all the wines.
Viñas Viejas de Paniza is made with grapes of the Garnacha variety from old vines up to 100 years old and remains six months in barrels giving rise to a complex and elegant wine with aromas of raspberry and pillory accompanied by memories of mocha and vanilla that bring wealth and complexity. With its first vintage, that of 2012, it obtained 90 Parker points, 90 points and 5 stars in the Peñín Guide 2015, and silver medal in Berliner Wein Thropy 2014 and 2016. With the 2013 one it received a silver medal in the Concours International Selections Mondionales des Vins and bronze medal (86 points) at Decanter World Wine Awards 2016 and Gold at Mundus Vini 2018 with its 2016 vintage.
Viñas de Paniza Syrah is a very expressive wine. On the nose aromas of violet with delicate notes of clove and tobacco and a smoky background predominate. The palate is broad and fleshy with subtle notes of cinnamon, minerals and chocolate. Marida with red meats, pastas and cheeses.
