Bodegas Paniza continues to enjoy international success. The last recognition was obtained in the Berliner Wein Thropy contest, held from February 15 to 18 in Berlin, in which she has been awarded two gold medals and has received two recommendations. It is the most important contest in Germany and is among the elite of the best contests in the world. In this edition of 2018, the jury has been composed of more than 190 members who have tasted and scored the 6,700 wines that have been presented.
Agostón Garnacha Syrah, awarded with a gold medal, is the brand for export of one of the most representative wines of the winery, Jabalí. It is made with 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. It is a soft and juicy style wine that reminds of forest fruits in the mouth. He has received numerous awards with his 2009 vintage: silver medal in the Selections Mondiales de Québec 2010, 90 points with 5 stars in the Peñín Guide of 2010, silver medal in the “Der grosse Spanien WeinPreis” 2010 and medal bronze at the International Wine Challenge 2010. With his 2008 vintage he received a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2009, silver medal at the International Wine Challenge in London in 2009 and was recognized as one of the 100 best young Spanish wines 2008 by the Spanish Union of Tasters.
For its part, Paniza Reserva, recognized with gold in this edition, is part of the winery’s aging range together with Crianza and Gran Reserva, which have been highlighted in category IV. After fermentation, these wines are aged in 225 liters barrels of French and American oak, followed by a subsequent aging in the bottle. Paniza Reserva is a wine with complex aromas (nuts, vanilla, licorice and balsamic) and in the mouth it is delicate and balanced with a fruity aftertaste. With his 2010 vintage, he won a gold medal at Berliner Wein Trophy 2014; with that of 2009, silver medal in Mundus Vini 2012 and gold medal in Berliner Wein Trophy 2012; and with the vintage of 2008 got gold medal in Berliner Wein Trophy 2011, silver medal in the International Wine Challenge of 2012 and bronze medal in this same contest in 2013.
